Jacci didn’t want to plan a wedding, but as a Disney event producer, she loves planning fun events. Luke suggested throwing a posh Halloween party in New Orleans, with friends dressing up for a masquerade party over All Saints’ Day weekend.

They wanted their guests to feel at home at their wedding and used their current home as inspiration for their day. Jacci explained: “One of our guests said he had never been to a wedding before, which made him feel like he was walking into someone’s house. We love a moody black, red, and gold color scheme, and really leaned into our favorite time of year.

With the Halloween theme firmly embedded in their celebration, they also wanted to incorporate their beliefs, as Jacci explained, “Our bridal theme for our wedding was Through Haunting. We think the energy continues after death and ‘Til Death felt final, so we wanted to engage beyond that.

Their friend was ordained so he could perform the ceremony, and the couple’s vows focused on mutual respect and the earthly elements. Jacci continued, “I wrote the script for the ceremony, including ‘Through their marriage, they will find protection and sanctuary as they go through life and haunting, together.’ eyeing Tim Burton’s The Corpse Bride vows. Luke’s stepmother read James Kavanaugh’s poem, To Love is Not to Possess, and we lit a magic candle made at my favorite Burbank boutique, The Crooked Path.

Jacci loved designing and planning their weekend and saved money by doing most things herself. They chose to have a “day of” coordinator, who brought their vision to life and kept the day on track, while the couple enjoyed celebrating. She told us, “The best thing about planning our wedding was that it looked like the perfect combination of Luke and me — visually and with all the love in the room.”
“Plan your dream wedding for you and your partner. You’ll probably encounter a few surprises, and that’s okay. Take the opportunity to take stock of who is showing up for you and surround your new union with these loved ones in the next chapter of your life together. Also, don’t jump on the fog machine!
