They wanted their wedding to be relaxed and reflect them, so Inez and Ismail opted to keep things small for their September nuptials. They also didn’t want anything too traditional. The bride wore a black dress by Khaite, while the groom wore his favorite red Nike sneakers and a black tee rather than a shirt. The ceremony took place at Marylebone Town Hall with only a few relatives present, and they then went to a restaurant rather than having a formal reception.

“We had a civil partnership ceremony, which meant we didn’t have to follow tradition-based scripts that didn’t fit our relationship,” the bride told us. “We organized everything in a month and we only chose the music on the morning of the ceremony! For the entrance we had I’ll Follow You into the Dark by Death Cab for Cutie, and for the signature we had Dance of the Dream Man by Twin Peaks (one of our favorite shows). The ceremony was super quick because we didn’t want any vows or readings, we ended up cutting out a lot of the script.

After the ceremony, they headed to Regent’s Park Japanese Garden with their photographer for some portraits and some group shots. “It was such a joy to stroll through the tranquil garden right after the ceremony,” Inez continued. “and we have so many amazing photos there!”

“There’s nothing we would have done differently,” she concluded. “It was a fabulous and relaxing day and we spent it as we wanted! Our advice would be to do what makes sense to you – if you want a big party, go for it, otherwise, just do something small. It really should be a celebration of the couple that you are, nothing else. Oh and both get involved in the planning!
