Megan + Alex wasn’t afraid to think outside the box when it came to their wedding. This bride loves GWS and was thrilled to share her special day with us! After the couple discussed exactly what they envisioned for their ceremony, they teamed up with Bird Dog Wedding to bring their unique vision to life. Here’s Megan on how they captured the perfect vibe:
“Before contacting any vendors, we sat down as a couple and built a concept for our wedding. The concept helped define what we like and just as importantly what we don’t like. We used it as a guide to evaluating locations, vendor proposals, and other details. We both love the vibe of Bunkhouse properties, to the extent that we even got engaged at the Saint Cecilia Hotel in Austin. For that reason, we tried to infuse our wedding with a retro flair and a bold color palette, and I feel like those vibes really came to life through our printed materials, decor, and floral color palette.
The couple got married at Prospect House in Dripping Springs, TX and Aurelia Baca Photography was there to capture the whole day…let’s take a look!

Obsessed with this bright red bouquet from Remi + Gold! The pop of color stands out against this metal-aluminum Texas barn!

You can never go wrong with a simple white dress! We asked Megan to share the story of finding her perfect dress:
“We’re from Houston, so I came home to go shopping with my mom, my future mother-in-law, and my bridesmaids. I found my dress at Lovely Bridal in Houston; I was so excited to shop at Lovely because the store is in my old stomping ground in Houston’s Montrose neighborhood. It was great to be in a familiar place to shop for my wedding dress. I specifically wanted a simple dress with long sleeves, and when I tried on the Vagabond Anastasia, I knew it was the one. The a-line frame was so flattering and the open back detail gave it a unique style.

The Perfect Reception

OUR ADVICE TO THOSE WHO PLAN NOW
Don’t forget the easy-to-forget details. All the little things, like event signage, table clothes, and guest goodie bags, start to add up. For example, if you want a large welcome sign, be sure to think about it before it’s too late or after your budget has been allocated elsewhere. Maya and Love really hit it off with our event signage!

And here’s another great example of how they incorporated their red and dark green hues into their reception decor! So picturesque.

OUR BEST WEDDING MEMORY
Celebrating with friends and family after a year of quarantine was absolutely amazing. Our most memorable moments were the speeches from our friends and family. My dad read a note I wrote when I was a little girl at summer camp. We both have older siblings and they also spoke at the wedding. Alejandro’s brother had everyone laughing with his engineering jokes and in tears paying tribute to their parents, who are first-generation Americans. My sister, who is 13 years older than me, remembered taking care of me when I was a little girl. All the speeches were incredibly touching and we will never forget those moments.

We can’t forget those heart-shaped sunglasses she paired with her dress that really played into their retro-funky vibe.
“My reception dress was Rime Arokoday and I loved the lace details and the puffiness of the skirt. Plus, it was really fun to have a dress delivered from Paris!
